It appears that enough Illinois residents have signed petitions to put legislative term limits on the fall ballot but that doesn’t mean that it’s a done deal.
More than twice the needed number of signatures appears to have been collected if they are validated.
Other actions still could be taken between now and the August 22nd deadline for the initiative to be placed on the ballot.
A lawsuit has been filed to stop the measure.
The proposal would limit lawmakers to eight years in office and change the size of the General Assembly.
