A local Terr Haute motel that has been in the news over the past few months is back in the news again.
After a recenlty relased from prison sex offender allgedly attacked a girl at the Econo Lodge motel, it was discovered that the man was living there and that is when it came the light that motel had a contract with the state to house sex offenders.
The Econo Lodge national chain then canceled the franchise.
The over a week ago, city health and building inspectors condemned the complex when they didn’t pay their water bill and the water was shut off.
Now building and fire inspectors from Terre Haute and the State have found several deficiencies and code violation and the motel on Margaret Avenue has voluntarily closed.
Motel employees have admitted to electrical and plumbing problems as well as bed bug and mold issues.
Until the problems are fixed it won’t reopen.
The most major deficiency is a non functional fire alarm.
