There are a lot more mo-peds on the road.
There are a lot of reasons.
They are cheaper to buy than most cars.
They get really good gas mileage and for some the DWI ( Dee-Wee ) scooters are the only thing they can drive after loosing their driver’s license for a drunk driving conviction.
New mo-ped laws in Indiana took effect July 1st.
If you have a machine with an engine over 50 cc’s, you will need a drivers license, plates and insurance, but if it’s smaller than that, there is no license required.
With the increase in scooter traffic there are more accidents reported around the state.
People not following the new mo-ped rules could get hit with a $100 fine and lose their bike.
