A legal complaint has lead to a ruling that will keep teachers at Vigo County Schools from leading their students in prayer.
A complaint was filed by the Freedom of Religion Foundation.
A parent complained to the group about a teacher leading a prayer at the school corporation's awards banquet last May.
School Superintendent Dan Tanoos says that even though teachers will not lead a prayer at special events in the future, that doesn’t mean that students can’t or won’t.
Tanoos told WIBQ that he thought that the practice was probably against current law but waited for a complaint before ending the practice.
He said at no time was anyone force to take part in any practice or event that they did not agree with.
Now that the policy has been changed the complaint is over.
