Economic growth brings many benefits to any city, but it also brings new dangers and Terre Haute Fire Chief, Jeff Fisher is hoping that with that growth comes a new fire station.
Response time has not been an issue as fire trucks can be at an emergency within four minutes but, the city's three newest fire stations are nearly 30 years old.
It could cost as much as $2.5 million to build a new station. Executive Director of the Redevelopment Department, Cliff Lambert, says that money would have to come from taxes paid in that area.
Mayor Duke Bennett is now looking over several plans for a new station. Chief Fisher will go before the Redevelopment Commission in August.
