Two Indiana Police officers were killed in the line of duty over the July 4th holiday weekend.
Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department officer Perry Renn was killed when he and another officer responded to a call about shots being fired around.
Two suspects were found.
One suspect opened fire with an assault rifle.
Both were hit by gunfire.
Officer Renn died at a local hospital.
The suspect identified as 25-year-old Major Davis Junior, actually died at the scene but was revived and taken to a local hospital and will be charged with murder.
Another officer was shot and killed in Gary.
Police say that a concerned citizen called to report an officer bleeding in is car.
47-year-old Patrolman Jeffrey Westerfield was found shot to death in his car.
Westerfield was apparently making a traffic stop and was shot in the head while sitting in his car.
Police say that they have a person of interest in custody.
