Law enforcement recovers 15 cats found in an abandoned home on Kennett Drive in southern Vigo County.
Neighbors called police and helped to capture many of the cats who had no food or water.
Vigo County Sheriff Greg Ewing stated the neighbors did the right thing by calling in to report the situation.
Those cats are now being cared for and nursed back to health at the Vigo County Humane Shelter.
Meanwhile the shelter is currently over crowded.
Officials say this is the second time in two weeks that officials have had to go into homes and take in neglected pets.
The Terre Haute Humane Society currently out of room with no place for the neglected pets to go.
