A proposed expansion of a business on Terre Haute’s south side.
The current owner of Top Guns is proposing moving his business across the highway to the former Furniture Gallery store and developing a combination indoor firing range and gun shop.
Zoning approval was given last night by Vigo County Area Planning.
The furniture store building is about 60,000 square feet and two-thirds of that would be for the expanded Top Guns business and the new indoor firing range.
The rest would be available for commercial lease.
Total cost of the project could be as much as $6 million.
The walls are concrete so there is no danger posed to the outside area and other safety measures would be put in place.
Law enforcement agencies could use the facility for training.
There are plans for a classroom to be used for safety classes, individual firearms instruction and more.
There are other regulatory requirements that would have to be cleared before the business could operate.
