At last night’s Vigo County School Board meeting officials began the process of banning electronic cigarettes on school grounds. A revision to school rules would ban tobacco use as well as anything that resembles smoking like electronic cigarettes.
A second reading of the proposal is scheduled for the next meeting on February 10.
The change will likely be voted on then.
The board also approved a pay raise of 2.2 percent for non-teacher personnel.
Those employees have not received raises for the past two years but they have stipends.
There will also be a one percent increase in the contribution to insurance premiums.
