The price of a first class stamp went up this past weekend.
It will now cost 49 cents for a first class stamp which is a three-cent price hike. The Postal Service says that it is a temporary increase to help recover from severe mail decreases, blamed on the 2008 economic recession.
In an effort to recover from $2.8 billion in losses the post office says that the increase is only temporary and will last no more than two years.
The Forever stamps that you already have are still good.
