Construction of a new low-income housing facility for the Terre Haute Housing Authority on North 25th Street is now ahead of schedule.
The $11 million Warren Village project should be completed and ready for occupancy but the end of the year.
Part of the structure includes the former Warren Elementary School.
The Terre Haute Housing Authority also owns the Deming Center downtown.
Most of those tenets are expected to move into Warren Village.
As to what will happen to the Deming Center which was once the stylish Deming Hotel, that’s still up in the air.
The housing authority says that they do have several proposals.
The Deming was built back in 1913 for around $400,000 which is over $9million in today’s dollars.
It recalls a time in downtown Terre Haute that is long since gone.
