On Sunday evening, January 19 at 8:19, Indiana State Police troopers were dispatched to the eastbound lanes of Interstate 70 near the 18 mile marker for a two-vehicle crash.
No injuries were reported.
Master Trooper Todd Brown arrived and during his investigation, determined that an eastbound 2008 Dodge Caliber driven by Richard E. Loschen, age 52, of Indianapolis, IN. was eastbound in the passing lane and veered to the right striking the rear of a 2009 Chevrolet Colorado pickup driven by Kenneth D. Wilzoch, age 23, of Canton, Ohio.
During the investigation, Master Trooper Brown noticed Loschen smelled strongly of alcohol and displayed the classic signs of intoxication. Further investigation found a full case of beer hidden under the Loschen vehicle and Loschen was accompanied by his 27-year-old autistic daughter.
Richard E. Loschen was incarcerated in the Clay County Jail after testing .16% BAC. His bond was set at $7000 with no 10%. Brown arrested Loschen for Operating Vehicle While Intoxicated-Endangerment, misdemeanor.
