The arrival of light snow this morning caused several traffic crashes and slide-offs on Interstate 70 within the Putnamville District. The busiest sections of Interstate 70 were the 16 mile marker in Vigo County to the 22 mile marker in Clay County, the 23 mm in Clay County to the 35mm in Putnam County. The majority of the crashes resulted in no injuries, but two drivers did sustain serious to critical injuries. At 8:50 this morning, troopers responded to the 49.5mm of I-70 in eastern Putnam County for a vehicle rollover crash that ejected the driver. Darrell Gullett, age 49, of Greenwood, IN. was traveling westbound and lost control on the slick roadway, ultimately rolling over his 2001 Ford van. Gullett was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected. Gullett was transported to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis for back pain and internal injuries. No picture available. At 9:20 a.m., a six vehicle crash in the westbound lanes of I-70 near the 30.5 mile marker in Putnam County resulted in possible critical injuries to one passenger car driver and probable serious injuries to another passenger car driver who had exited his vehicle and was struck by a vehicle forced into him from the initial impact. The crash involved three passenger cars, a large truck pulling a camper, and two tractor-trailer units. All vehicles were stopped for another crash and slide-offs, except for one tractor-trailer unit that struck the other vehicles in the rear. The names of the two injured are currently not available. From 6:00am until 3:00pm today, troopers responded to: Property damage crashes 16 Personal injury crashes 06 Slide offs (no damage) 10 Medical emergencies 02
