University of Illinois trustees later this month will consider raising tuition 1.7 percent for next school year.
The full board of trustees will next meet on Jan. 23. The proposal would raise the cost of a year of tuition for in-state students to just over $12,000 in Urbana-Champaign.
Annual housing costs would increase 2 percent to $10,180 in Urbana-Champaign.
The increase would only affect students starting this fall because state law locks tuition rates for public university students for four years.
