Winter Weather Keeps State Police Busy

After a very busy 72 plus hours responding to various calls for service related to the winter storm, Indiana State Police troopers out of the Putnamville Post are beginning to see a reduction in those calls.

On Wednesday midnight to 4:30 on the afternoon, troopers responded to: Slide-offs 23 Property damage crashes 6 Assist mechanically disabled vehicles 16 Most of the calls occurred along I-70 in Vigo, Clay and Putnam counties.

Tuesday night into Wednesday Interstate 70 eastbound was briefly closed on four separate occasions for “jackknifed” tractor-trailers and one roll-over.
