The backlog of Illinois concealed carry applications is large and getting larger everyday.
The state police say 11,000 people have already applied for permits and you have to have already been trained before you can apply.
So many people want the permits that many instructors say they're having trouble finding range time because every place is so busy. You are required to train for 16 hours.
So the result is that getting a permit will be a longer process than it is supposed to be.
