Fire crews were called out to a southern Vigo County house fire around 10A.M. Tuesday morning. The residents of the home escaped unharmed and most of the damage was contained to the attic.
The home did suffer major damage and the fire may have been caused by a wood burning stove but the investigation is on going.
Crews from Honeycreek, Seelyville, Riley, Sugar creek, and Prairieton were called-in to help.
The home is owned by Jonathan Stevens who is a West Terre Haute Police Officer and a volunteer firefighter.
He lived in the home with his wife and eight children.
