Terre Haute Mayor Duke Bennett gave his state of the city address Thursday afternoon.
Bennett says that even with less tax revenue the city is getting by and making progress.
He adds that we aren’t getting much help from the state.
Bennett was talking about the possible loss of millions of dollars in revenue if the state cuts the business property tax without replacing that money.
The Mayor says that many projects could depend on what changes the state legislature might make to TIF districts and other tax changes.
Those changes could affect funding for a new police station and other development.
Bennett thinks expansion on the east side of town, including a Meijer super store and other developments are all reasons for hope.
He added that there have been several inquires about possible development since the Meijer announcement.
