A Staunton man is arrested by Vigo Sheriffs Deputies after a high speed chase.
Officers say that a car was driving at a high rate of speed on 3rd street and when the officer tried to stop the car it kept going.
Police say that Derek Joseph Harlan hopped the curb and ran stop lights at the intersections of 3rd and Walnut, Ohio, Wabash and Cherry Streets.
At 3rd and Chestnut Harlan stopped his car got out and laid down in the middle of the street face down with his hands behind his back.
Harlan told officers that he wanted their attention so he could go to jail.
He said that he thought he was wanted by the police for domestic battery.
A warrant check showed no outstanding warrants.
Harlan did get his wish and was taken to the Vigo County Jail and is facing several motor vehicle charges.
