New numbers have been released by the U.S. Department of Agriculture that shows Indiana is losing farms at an alarming rate.
The first agriculture census in five years shows Indiana had more than 58,000 farms in 2007 but by 2012 we had lost more than 2,200 of those.
That's a decline of nearly 4 percent. The last Ag census showed that between 2002 and 2007 we had added over 640 farms. The full report on the 2012 agriculture census will be released in May.
