Rose Hulman Hoops sweep Franklin

The Rose Hulman Men clinched at least a share of the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference men's basketball championship and will host the league tournament starting Feb. 28 after winning 71-69 at Franklin College on Wednesday night.  Senior Julian Strickland led three Engineers in double figures with 18 points, Alec Houpt added 14 and Jimmy Miller scored 12.  Rose-Hulman won its 20th game for the third consecutive season for the first time in school history and won its second consecutive regular season conference championship for just the third time.  The effort marks Rose-Hulman 10th regular season conference title in school history.

A career high 25 point effort by sophomore Carrie Morris lifted the Rose Hulman Women to a 65-61 upset of Franklin College on Wednesday evening.  Rose took care of business on the glass out rebounding the Grizzlies 37-28 and outscoring Franklin 19-0 on second chance points. The Engineers kept their Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference tournament hopes alive with one regular-season game remaining. Rose-Hulman currently stands in a three-way tie for sixth place with Earlham and Defiance.
