Indiana has a North American Soccer League Franchise in Indianapolis.
The team is known as Indy Eleven.
Soccer team owner Ersal Ozdemir made his pitch for an $87 million, state-financed stadium for the team to play to members of the House Ways and Means Committee.
The proposed 18,500-seat venue could also play host for other events including college-level field hockey, lacrosse, soccer and football.
The committee didn’t take a vote, but the proposal will be up for discussion again next week.
