The Terre Haute City Council met last night and a very large crowd was in attendance for the debate on rules and resolutions.
Last week there was a resolution put forward to voice an opinion on the proposed constitutional gay marriage ban.
There is currently a rule in place that says that the council cannot pass a resolution on something controversial that they don’t have an interest in.
Last night the council looked at changing that rule.
In the end the council voted to keep the rule in place and only spend their time on issues that affect the city.
The city council also voted against a resolution asking the state legislature to not do away with the business property tax.
