At last night’s Vigo County School Board meeting the board approved a long-term lease agreement with the city for a portion of Voorhees Park that will let the plan for a new pool facility to move forward.
Total cost for the project will be just under $10 million.
Plans are to have the new facility open by August 2015 and will replace pools at the three county high schools.
Also at last night’s meeting the board was updated on snow days.
So far Vigo County has missed eight days this year.
With state waivers and using built in makeup days there are three days that will have to be made up.
How that will be done has not yet been decided.
It could be done by adding days onto the end of the year or by making current days longer. The board approved a Feb. 24 public hearing related to a proposed renovation of Hoosier Prairie Elementary.
That project will provided the building of classroom walls and doors as well as energy efficiency upgrades and changes to stop water intrusion into the building.
