Sheriff’s Deputies are reporting extremely hazardous road conditions. Multiple crashes reported.
Heavy snow is falling, and current visibility has been reduced to approximately 1/8 mile. Deputies are also seeing drifting in the rural areas. In a two-hour period between 4pm- 6pm today, Vigo County Central Dispatch received calls for approximately 20 crashes and slide-offs. Additionally, Vigo County is now under a “travel watch”. A travel watch means that conditions are threatening to the safety of the public.
Only essential travel, such as to and from work or in emergency situations, is recommended. Emergency action plans should be implemented by businesses, schools, government agencies, and other organizations
