Indiana American Water Company is asking for a rate hike of 6.75%.
If the hike is approve the average bill will go over $2 per month.
Even if you don’t have service through Indiana America, you bill will likely go up if your water utility buys its water from the company.
Indiana American claims that they will have made more than $200 million dollars in infrastructure investments by 2015 through out the state of Indiana.
These improvements would seem too many to be just a normal part of doing business such as meter replacements, fire hydrant replacements, water main replacements, and improvements at water treatment facilities.
The way the rate increase works, those improvements don’t have to happen in your area.
The state of Indiana is treated as one rate area, so improvements in one part of the state might raise rates all across the state.
