Last December, the Northeast Sullivan School Corp board voted to close Union High School and Dugger Elementary.
Now in the place of those two schools a group of parents and others from the community have opened their own charter school.
More than 300 students are expected to enroll in grades K-12.
Each student will have a laptop and classes will combine online learning with face-to-face instruction.
The Dugger elementary and high schools are being operated in conjunction with and as a campus of Indiana Cyber Charter School
