Fergie 's looking forward to celebrating her son Axl 's first birthday next week, but she's got something even more exciting on the horizon: the very long-awaited follow up to her first solo album, The Dutchess.

That record, which came out in 2006, was hugely successful and spun off a slew of hits, like "Big Girls Don't Cry," "London Bridge" and "Glamorous."  Since then, Fergie has released several albums and done  a number of tours with the Black Eyed Peas , putting plans for a second solo album on the back burner.  Since Axl was born, though, she's turned her attention back to it, and now she tells Glamour magazine , "I’m working on it now, but it will be [out] before the end of the year."

Meanwhile, Axl's first birthday is August 29, and she tells Glamour how her life has changed in the past 12 months of motherhood. "All these mommy feelings that I never knew...I knew I was going to feel something," she says. "Everybody tells you that you’re going to feel this extraordinary love, but it’s really indescribable until you really experience it. If I don’t see him all day, I miss him. I don’t want to miss anything."

Fergie adds that Axl, who just started walking, is "completely split down the middle," personality-wise, between herself and her husband Josh Duhamel . "He’s just a doll!" she gushes. "Both of us are outgoing, so he definitely got that trait, but he’s also a bit of a thinker. He does the scan to decide if he’ll let you in."
