Last night the Vigo County Council held the first reading of the 2015 budget.
It will have to go through several revisions and a couple more readings before it will be approved.
Two big problems that will strain the budget are what to do about the overcrowded county jail and trying to maintain county roads.
The proposed budget right now is about $64 million.
That will have to be cut.
The budget committee will be holding meetings with the heads of each county department to see where cuts can be made and who has the most need for funds.
The council is set to approve the new budget by September 9th.
