As Vigo County students head back to class today some students will go to a newly remodeled school.
After nearly $4 million and a little more than two months Hoosier Prairie Elementary School has seen a big change.
The school was originally designed as an open concept school.
Now there are walls and doors where they never existed before.
The changes were made to increase security and to add to learning by reducing noisy distractions.
There was also a lot of work that was completed outside the school to reduce water intrusion that caused structural problems and the growth of mold in some areas.
While major structural work is largely completed, there are still many small projects yet to be completed.
Many rooms do not have new wipe-off white boards installed and lots of storage and shelving is yet to be completed.
Those projects will be wrapped up over the next several weeks.
