A Good Samaritan from Terre Haute is killed on I-70 Monday night.
It happened at the 32 mile marker near the Putnamville exit.
Police say that a couple from Texas had run out of gas and was stopped on the emergency shoulder.
22 year old John Dugger, of Terre Haute, stopped to help push the vehicle.
Dugger’s vehicle was parked in front of the disabled vehicle.
The disabled vehicle did not have any emergency flashers since the battery was dead.
Troopers say that Dugger stepped into the driving lane to speak to the driver of the disabled vehicle when he was hit by 55 year old Terry Scarbrough, of Farmersburg.
Dugger died at an Indianapolis hospital.
Dugger’s passenger was also injured as he landed on her after being hit.
She is being treated at the Putnam County Hospital.
Drugs and/or alcohol are not suspected and there were no citations issued.
