Indiana State Police this morning have arrested a former sixth grade teacher from Montezuma Elementary School in connection to alleged missing money.
38 year old Melissa A. McMullen, of Rosedale, surrendered herself to the Parke County Jail around 10 a.m today ( Wednesday).
Police say that a four month investigation showed that McMullen was in charge of fundraising events for the sixth grade class at Montezuma and that from September to December of 2013 she utilized $2,533.32 of that money for personal use.
That money came from four separate fundraising events.
Also, officials believe between September 2011 and December 2013 while McMullen was serving as the former president of the Southwest Parke Education Association, she allegedly utilized $75,251.86 of those funds for personal use.
McMullen, through her attorney, has since reimbursed the SWPEA the $75,251.86.
She faces one count of forgery and four counts of theft. McMullen is at the Parke County Jail with bond set at $15,000.
