FEMA Approves Winter Aid Appeal

FEMA
FEMA

After an appeal from Governor Mike Pence, the Federal Emergency Management Agency has changed its mind and has now approved disaster aid for 19 Indiana counties hit by a January storm.

Originally FEMA had rejected Indiana’s request for federal aid for local governments and some nonprofit groups in 49 counties following the Jan. 5-9 snowstorm.

Approved counties can get federal grants to cover 75 percent of their expenses for the storm’s damage to roads and other infrastructure.

Counties in our area affected by the grant include Clay, Owen, Parke, Putnam, Sullivan, and Vigo.
