Legislators are currently considering a bill that would change what it takes to suspend or expel students from school.
The new bill would limit the length of suspension to only 10 days.
It would also only allow the expulsion of students if they are found to be a threat to their peers or staff.
One other interesting part of the proposed bill would be the banning of fining students for misbehavior.
This part was added after a network of charter schools in the state collected hundreds of thousands of dollars with the practice, such as fining a student $5 for each detention.
