A new bill is making its way through the Illinois General Assembly that would alter which students are allowed to ride the bus to school.
Currently a student must live at least a mile and a half from school in order to get a ride.
The new proposal would change that distance to 2 miles.
In smaller cities such as Paris, that extra half mile would exclude a large percentage of students.
There will be exceptions of course, such as students that live on highways or that would have a dangerous walk to school.
