A Marion County Judge is expected to rule by the end of the month on a lawsuit filed by the ACLU on behalf of Greenfield Police Officer Rodney Vawter.
Vawter says that the Bureau of Motor Vehicles violated his free speech rights when they revoked his personalized plate, which reads “0INK” next to a Fraternal Order of Police logo.
The BMV suspended the personalized plate program when the suit was filed.
The contention is that there are no solid written rules and solid guidelines on what is permissible for a personalized plate.
