Just released federal court papers show 50 Cent has been ordered to pay more than $16 million in damages and attorney fees in connection with a dispute between the rapper and a Florida audio company involving a line of headphones, the Bradenton Herald reports.

A federal court in Miami affirmed in late March an arbitration ruling from last summer that directs the rapper, who was born Curtis Jackson III , to pay Sleek Audio $11.7 million in damages and close to $4.5 million in attorney fees.

According to court papers, 50 Cent partnered with Sleek Audio in 2010 to design and market his own line of headphones, but then took product designs to a second company, SMS Audio, when Sleek failed to deliver on its agreement in a timely manner.

Last July, an arbitrator ruled that the rapper misappropriated trade secrets, violated a non-disclosure agreement, and breached confidentiality when he took headphone designs from Sleek to SMS Audio.

Lynn Sheehy , an attorney for the owners of Sleek Audio, told the Herald , "We're really happy with the decision."

50 Cent has not commented publicly on the ruling.
