New requirements for Emergency Medical Technicians in Indiana.
Current EMTs will have to take more classes and pass more tests to receive their new certification.
The new certifications require EMTs to receive at least 100 hours of training and several tests.
There are currently five certification levels and that will change to three.
Those who pass will be able to administer life saving techniques, those that don’t, won’t.
More than 20 emergency responders in Terre Haute will need to pass the new tests or lose their rank this summer. Every Terre Haute fire station does have an emergency responder with the highest level of certification.
