You have heard the old saying “he would sell his own mother”.
Jason Severs of Terre Haute might not sell his mother but he would apparently sell her fake investments and take her money.
Severs pleaded guilty to securities fraud and was sentenced to 25 years in prison for an investment scam where he stole more than $1.3 million from 30 investors including his mother and his uncle.
Police say that they believe that he may have stolen even more than that in a Ponzi scheme.
Severs offered the opportunity for his investors to invest in overseas businesses and promised a 15 percent return on each investment. Severs says he will appeal this sentence.
