A Terre Haute woman accused of abusing an adopted child takes a plea deal.
Nikki Russell pleaded guilty Friday to neglect and criminal confinement.
Under terms of the plea agreement she will serve a maximum of 10 years behind bars.
Her next court date is November 19 while her husband is expected in court next week.
Russell and her husband, Larry, were arrested in December after one of their adopted sons escaped their home and walked to a nearby hospital.
Police say that other adopted children had been locked in a room, beaten, and covered with bodily fluid.
