Just after midnight this morning, Indiana State Police and Riley Fire Department responded to a commercial vehicle fire on Interstate 70 westbound near the 12 mile marker.
53 year old Ronald Spotts, of Addison, New York was westbound on I-70 and noticed his box trailer loaded with approximately 46,000 pounds of sauerkraut appeared to be on fire.
Spotts pulled to the emergency shoulder and disengaged his tractor from the trailer.
Riley Fire Department extinguished the fire and no injuries were reported.
Westbound traffic was stopped for 40 minutes for fire suppression.
A semi truck fire on I-70 around midnight last night.
It happened in the westbound lanes at the 12 mile marker.
The truck was loaded with sauerkraut.
No word on what cause the fire.
