The Vigo County School Board met last night and decided to move forward with the construction of a new centrally located pool.
The facility will replace the pools at the three area high schools.
Several locations are being discussed but the most likely and best location according to officials would be Voorhees Park.
That location appears to be the most centrally located in relation to the three schools.
For Voorhees to be selected the city and parks board would have to agree.
Superintendant Dan Tanoos plans to ask the board for formal approval of the Voorhees Park site at the next meeting on October 21.
The school corporation plans for the new pool facility to be open in time for the 2015-2016 school year.
