A county in west central Indiana is warning of hostage scams.
Apparently someone will call and say one of your loved ones is held hostage and then demand a large sum of money.
The Montgomery County sheriff’s department says this type of scam happens nearly every week.
Authorities received a call Friday from an elderly woman from Darlington saying she got a call from a man saying he had her son. When the dispatcher called her son’s workplace he was there.
If you think you are being scammed you should keep asking questions. Most of the time these callers just hang up if you ask too many questions.
