Indiana Blood Center said it is in critical need of all blood types this week. This week several state hospitals had requests for units that could not be filled because of low blood supply.
The blood center said the Indiana State Department of Health has been notified that an official designation of “critical” has been called, which allows Indiana Blood Center to communicate with media and donors, asking for immediate support.
Indiana Blood Center said donors of all types are encouraged to visit one of the eight donor centers statewide or mobile blood drives. Potential donors can find those mobile blood drives, plus schedule appointments, at DonorPoint.org
The local blood center here in Terre Haute is at 2021 S. Third St. and is open:
8 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday
7 a.m. to 4 p.m. Friday
