The Clay County Humane Society has paid its bills for the month and it is now out of money.
$3 is all that is left in the checking account.
Money from Clay County and the City of Brazil takes care of payroll but donations must cover supplies, the light bill, and care for the animals.
More volunteers would help but that doesn’t cover everything.
The facility currently houses more than 180 animals, though it only has room for 68.
Staff members cover some expensed out of their own pockets.
Below is a list of needed supplies and where to send monetary donations.
The Clay County Humane Society needs kitten and puppy chow, clay and clumping litter, laundry detergent, paper towels, cleaning supplies, bleach, treats, toy, cat carriers, dog crates, blankets, rugs, as well as dog and cat beds. All of these items can be found at discount stores for under $20.
Cash donations can be sent to the Clay County Humane Shelter and sent to PO Box 277, Brazil, Ind. Willing volunteers can contact Cathy at 446-5126 for information. All donations are tax deductible.
