The city of Terre Haute has received a grant to help pay for the storm water run-off project.
Indiana American Water has given the city $4,000.
The money will go towards planting trees at Brown Avenue and Locust Street. A newly planted tree can intercept around 130 gallons of storm water a year so this will help cut down on the amount of water in the city's sewers. The city is currently building a $32 million project that will include a new waste water treatment plant and a system that will capture, treat and safely discharged excess run-off water into the Wabash River.
