The Linton city council held its meeting last night and the number one priority on the agenda was passing a new and balanced budget for 2014.
That budget needed to be about $250,000 less than this year.
Last night the city council voted unanimously to approve a budget that cut funds of both the police and fire departments.
The amount cut equals one fire fighter and two police officers.
It is possible that the cuts could become effective before the end of the year.
Property tax caps are being blamed as the main reason for less money coming from the state.
