The Battle Rounds begin Monday night on The Voice , and that means we'll get to meet this year's crop of superstar mentors: Miguel is helping Cee Lo's team, pop legend Cher will aid Team Blake, OneRepublic's Ryan Tedder is on board for Adam Levine's crew and in Christina Aguilera's corner, it's Ed Sheeran , who says he was thrilled to do it, in more ways than one.
"I've done pretty much almost every single other country of The Voice , I've gone to perform in it," he says. " And then...I get a call from Christina Aguilera's manager, being like, 'Do you wanna be a mentor?' And I love Christina Aguilera. I think she's fantastic. So being asked to do that...it was an easy 'yes.'"
Ed soon found out that working with Christina's team was not only a feast for the ears -- it was pretty easy on the eyes, too.
"The moment I met Aguilera, I went into the dressing room -- and I don't think she'll mind me telling this story -- but I went in, and she wearing this really, really, tight white top without a bra," Ed reveals. "And I'm a 22 year-old boy, and I'm meeting this girl for the first time. trying to be professional as hell. So I walk in there, going in to kinda talk and stuff, and my eyes keep slowly going down, and then kind of realizing what I'm doing, and then going up again!"
Ed makes no apologies, laughing, "Yeah, I'm young, I'm young! What can I say?"
Ed and the rest of the mentors will help the coaches whip their teams into shape as they face off against one another on The Voice during the all-important Battle Rounds. The fun begins at 8 p.m. ET on NBC.
