Last March Vigo County Sheriff's Department broke up a multi county cock fighting ring.
The two men that were arrested have still not gone to trial.
Approximately 50 roosters were confiscated and turned over to the Terre Haute Humane Society to be cared for and adopted out to new homes.
The bill presented to the county for all of that temporary care that includes feed, shelter and veterinary care totaled about $19,000.
Many of the birds were not allowed to be adopted out quickly because they were held as evidence for the pending court case.
The county council said that they wanted an itemized bill before authorizing payment.
The issue was tabled till next month.
