The Terre Haute City Council held their Sunshine meeting last night.
The mayor and city council looked over the proposed budget for next year that includes raises for city workers.
The proposed budget lowers spending in some departments and makes other adjustments so that workers can receive a 2% pay raise.
The possibility of charging for trash pick-up remains a very real possibility.
Workers have not received a raise for several years and Mayor Duke Bennett says that due to hikes in insurance premiums and tax withholding some employees takes home checks that are smaller now then when he first took office.
The council is set to approve the budget at the next regular meeting which will be Thursday October 10th.
